As the wheel turns towards the first stirrings of spring, we arrive at Imbolc, the ancient festival of returning light.
The days are beginning to lengthen. The first signs of new life appear beneath the surface, even while winter still holds the landscape in its quiet embrace.
Imbolc has long been marked as a time of renewal, purification and awakening. It is a threshold between the deep stillness of winter and the first breath of spring, a moment to tend the small flame before it begins to grow.
But the invitation of Imbolc isn't to rush into the new.
It is to listen.
After the deep rest of Yule, we arrive here at the first whisper of movement. Something within us may be beginning to shift, quietly asking for our attention, our care, our intention.
Imbolc is the first stirring.
A time to clear what has become stagnant.
To nurture what is taking root.
To listen for the desires, ideas and parts of ourselves that are ready to emerge.
What you can expect
At the heart of our gathering is ceremonial cacao, a heart-centred way to come together and begin settling into the space.
You’ll be guided through a journey into the inner world, with room to explore what arises through intuition, imagery and feeling. Seasonal ritual and reflection will weave through the afternoon, drawing on the symbolism of Imbolc and the returning sun as we honour this gentle turning of the Wheel.
There will also be time for sharing and connection, before we settle into a deeply restorative sound healing.
What to bring
If there’s something you’d like to contribute to our seasonal altar, you’re welcome to bring it along. Perhaps something gathered from nature, something that represents new beginnings, or an object that holds meaning for what you are ready to nurture.
For the sound journey, bring anything that will help you feel warm and comfortable while lying down. Yoga mats and bolsters are available at The Fold, and eye masks will be provided, but you may want to bring an extra blanket, pillow or warm layer of your own.
A journal and pen can be lovely to have nearby, along with some water for the afternoon.
With space for just 12 women, this is intentionally held as an intimate gathering, a small circle to honour the first stirrings of spring, kindle the inner flame and welcome the season ahead.
